Kimono fest in Canton Ohio

My fiance and I went to the Kimono festival at the Canton Museum of art today.    The Kubota collection was breathtakingly amazing.  If you are unfamiliar with his work it is well worth doing some searching.  Truly a unique artform.

We also watched a martial arts demonstration in the morning.  The doujo (sp?) master was very funny and friendly.  I actually learned a few things during that, various things about weapons and such.    martialartsdemo

We also watched a very moving taiko drumming ensemble.  Luckily we sat front row for that.  I absolutely love them and all of the drummers were very good.

Wtaikodrummere were not able to get in on the tea ceremonies but were able to watch for a bit from behind the glass to the courtyard.  There were a couple of lovely laidies in pretty kimono explaining the ceremony and helping to service the tea.  Overall I was fairly pleased with the whole day although I did see a girl dressed in furisode with SNEAKERS!  But we were all beginners once…I hope she didn’t know better.
