Presentation night

On Tuesday night this week I did a 2 hour kimono presentation for a group of ladies my mom is friends with.  Last minute Quat came to help out and I was really glad she did.  I took us almost an hour and a half to set everything up!  The presentation was pretty similar to running a panel at a convention and was typical kimono 101 stuff.  The group though was very engaged and asked lots of great questions. I’m not going to lie it was kind of nice talking to a group of older people and there were no Geisha comments!  On the left was the little flyer I did up since my mom wanted to have something to give out to people.  The bottom picture is me with a couple of display pieces.  Sadly one of my furi sleeves is drooping a bit since we had to rig something to put her up on.  Also, ugh…my slip collar is showing.  That’s what I get for trying to dress in a hurry though.  I never seem to know what to do with my hands either.  We did a yukata dressing demo on Quat but no one got pictures of it.  I need to remember that these things go off so much easier with 3 people because set up and tear down take the longest.  It will probably take me forever to put stuff away again.  Already starting to think about Ohayo-con in January too, the end of the year is always super busy.

Thanks, it was kind of a pain though. I had to resize it about 4 times.  ”Your fears are only what you make them to be.”

Hi reddelilah sama! Your Kitsuke(styling) is beautiful! I found your blog being introduced on “Kimono world life” and thought you could give me some insights. I am planning to visit London by myself this winter, and thinking of wearing kimono in London. If you could kindly let me know if it is safe for a Japanese woman to wear kimono in London alone to take subways, and visit tourist spots, or restaurants, I’d really appreciate it. I will not be wearing any vivid color. Just something dark, or grey. Thank you.

      Kana,
Thank you for your kind words. As for London I can not say for sure since I live in the United States but a fellow kimono enthusiast lives near London. Her blog is Strawberry Kimono which you can find in my links section of my blog. She may have some good advice for you on where to go when in London while wearing kimono.

Thank you so much for your kind reply! Sorry for the mistake, your blog was somehow listed under London… I will check your friend’s blog. Thank you again!
